Finally a Sleigh Bells album.
Nice Pants...
Towards the end of last year, Sleigh Bells got some serious buzz from some reputable publications (P4k, Stereogum, even The New Yorker). They were billed as an earnest guy-girl duo with an out-sized sound. At the time, I very much enjoyed their track, "Crown on the Ground", and was intrigued by the tales of energetic, ear-splitting live shows. But they had only a few songs and shows scatters across NYC clubs.
Flash forward 6 months to the present, and Sleigh Bells has leveraged that buzz into a Coachella appearance, a tour with Yeasayer, and some more hype for their forthcoming studio album. Now, I too have had the pleasure of getting my hearing impaired by this duo. In a mid-afternoon set, Guitarist/song-writer/producer Eric Miller took full advantage of Coachella's sound system (and his hard-core band background) and pumped out out some heart-perturbing distortion. Not to be outdone, Singer Alexis Krauss tested her vocal limits at audience's expense, but wore some really hot pants.
I ate it up; these guys rock it as hard as anyone.
So with that in mind, I suggest you turn up the volume in your earbuds and check out their stellar new track, "Tell 'Em". Their album drops 5/11.
