Hey all. Your Music Lexecon team regrets not posting for a bit, but we've been mad busy cleaning oil off baby seals. Thankfully, it looks like the leaks finally been plugged and I have a second to share a dope track.
Though it isn't Spike Jonze's best work, I think the music video for LCD Soundsystem's single "Drunk Girls" is pretty amusing. Who doesn't want to dress up as a panda-person and rough up James Murphy a little bit?
I'm not in love with "Drunk Girls", but the famed indie group still puts out some great tracks that make you want to almost dance. Their new album album, This is Happening, is coming out next week (5/17). Like pretty much every other new release (except Sleigh Bells' Treats surprisingly), it leaked months ago and I can attest that it is very solid. Here' my favorite track:
Who would have ever guessed that Euro-trance king, Tiësto, and Philly favela-lovin' homeboy, Diplo would ever do a collabo! This is a bomb track just released publicly today (maybe yesterday)! It's been playing in Tiësto and Diplo sets as of late but it's pretty much been a mystery.
This is kind of a Music Lexecon first, so... this is kind of a BIG F-IN DEAL.
Through some MAJOR connections we were able to attain an exclusive copy of DJ Rap's House Mix and it is OFF THE HOOK! The undisputed Queen of the Turntables, DJ Rap moves effortlessly between genres, staking her claim on various styles within the electronic spectrum. Apparently she will be doing an Avalon gig soon so keep us tuned in for more info. For those of you who want to move into the music industry, DJ Rap offers classes. You can check that out at her official website: djrap.com. It goes without mentioning, she's a hot bombshell. It's nice because there aren't that many female DJs out there. Enjoy!

WORDS CANNOT EXPLAIN HOW EXCITED I AM FOR TRON AND DAFT PUNK.
At Comic-Con last year we got a flavor for Tron and Daft Punk at the Disney panel... but barely! The Disney folks did tell us one thing, Daft WILL BE TOURING again after the release of Tron. OMG... Why can't December be here sooner?!?!

This is a Bloody Beetroots Death Crew 77 concert review that has been long overdue. The concert was a HARD event (again, nice job Destructo) hosted at the Hollywood Palladium on April 25th. My roomie won the tickets through the Dim Mak raffle and I was the lucky betch who got to go with her.
We had both seen Bloody Beetroots at Coachella '09. Hands down they were the best Saturday act in the Sahara (aka rave) tent, and there were many other "candidates"(i.e., MSTRKRFT, Crookers, TRV$DJ-AM (RIP my brotha), Drop the Lime, Steve Aoki). The "live" aspect of the more recent show with the addition of a drummer and the boys running around to handle the mic, guitar, piano, and production gear definitely enhanced the Bloody experience which back in the day only consisted of production gear. This time I was able to tell they were really musically talented dudes in venom masks. (With DJs you sometimes can't tell if they're all pre-produced or "live".)
There's something truly maniacal about Beetroots' sound that other producers can't top. Back in '09 they had epic drops that were truly mind-blowing. This time they were about epic drops and totally creepy sounds. My favorite moment at the Palladium by far was when they laced Cornelius into the theme song from 28 Days Later. Pure, filthy beauty.
Emotions were evoked for sure: fear and joy.
Here are a few tracks for the newbs in the order of recent to older releases (you can tell their music wasn't always as goth).
